Shay Gaillard
Rector
Shay was born and raised in Charleston and grew up a member of the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and spent 10 years in youth ministry, serving seven as Camp Director at Camp St. Christopher. When the call to ordained ministry came, Shay and his family traveled to Pittsburgh and studied at Trinity School for Ministry. After graduation he served as the curate at St. Paul’s in Conway before becoming the rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd in 2007. Shay is married to Tara, and they have four daughters.
Gillian Bagley
Parish Administrator
Gill was born and raised in Ireland and lived in several areas of the US before moving to South Carolina (6 weeks before Hurrican Hugo!). Gill has been Parish Administrator at Good Shepherd since 1998.
Johanna Evenson
Director of Music Ministries
Johanna was born and raised in Finland before moving to the US in 1987. She has a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Social Work. She is happily married to an Episcopal priest, and they have one daughter. She has been the Music Director at Good Shepherd since 2007. Jerilyn Isaacson
Financial Administrator
Jerilyn has been a bookkeeper for 31 years. She currently does bookkeeping for a law firm, a bakery, an event company, several churches and several Day Schools in Charleston. She has been with Good Shepherd since April 2000.
Denyse Steen
Day School Director
Denyse was born and raised in New Hampshire. She married her southern man, Billy, in 1993 and moved to Charleston in 1994. She has been involved in children’s ministry, family ministry, and women’s ministry since 1999 and was the director of Christian Education at St Thomas Episcopal, North Charleston for 7 years. She resides in North Charleston and has 2 teen aged children.
Ben Thompson
Worship Leader
Ben is a student at the College of Charleston studying History. He joined Good Shepherd in August to lead worship for the new contemporary service: the Offering. Ben has lead worship for nearly 4 years, starting with his youth group at St. Michael’s church, Camp St. Christopher, and college ministries. He grew up here in Charleston, and though he doesn’t like seafood very much, he does love to go sailing.
Mikah Alge
Nursery/Gracetime Director
Mikah is a recent graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree and teaching certificate in Special Education. She and her husband, Joey, have been members of Good Shepherd since 2010. Besides directing the nursery and Gracetime, she teaches in the Two year olds classroom at the Day School.
Corey Prescott
Family Minister
Corey was born and raised in Charleston, and graduated from Auburn University. He became the Family Minister at Good Shepherd in 2011 after completing training from the Diocese of South Carolina. He and his wife, Cory, have been married since 2010.
Ken Smith
Facilities Director
Ken grew up in Charleston, and has been married to his wife Lisa for 25 years. They have 4 sons. He has been in charge of Facilities at Good Shepherd since 2011.
